Re: High CPU usage when laptop is idle!

I suggest you run powertop. It shows right where you are wasting the most of your cpu cycles. For instance, I was having high cpu usages when handling usb flashdrives. After some research, using kernel parâmeter pcie_ports=native solved it completely. But powertop was the one that showed who was the culprit.

Re: High CPU usage when laptop is idle!

"X" appears to be always consuming some CPU. Check you Xorg log to see if anything strange there ( /var/log/Xorg.0.log ) or paste it somewhere for us. Also, what video card do you have and what driver are you using? I suspect possibly a  faulty driver?

Re: High CPU usage when laptop is idle!

What does your conky do/display on the screen? Kill the process and see if the cpu load drops.

@AliWam Thanks!Conky was the problem.When i kill conky CPU load drops.Strange :S But i want conky on my desktop,i hope there is solution for this.
@lagagon When i kill conky cpu load is normal (0 - 2 %),with conky 20-30% when laptop is idle.This is my "lspci":

Being able to take a look at your conkyrc might help a bit wink

Re: High CPU usage when laptop is idle!

Not sure if it's the only problem, but you probably shouldn't use exec audtool for Audacious, as conky has builtin Audacious support.

Try using something like this instead:

${color cyan}AUDACIOUS ${hr 2}
${color}$alignc${if_running audacious}${audacious_title}
$alignc${audacious_length}
${audacious_bar}

More here.

Re: High CPU usage when laptop is idle!

In your conkyrc you defined

update_interval 0.5

Set the value e.g. to 2.0 and see if there is any change in the cpu load. With your value of 0.5 the conky information gets refreshed twice a second, is this really necessary? wink

Re: High CPU usage when laptop is idle!

Yes,you're right that is unnecessary. big_smile
When i change "update_interval" from "0.5" to "2" cpu load is about 10% on idle.But i find something strange,with changing from "draw_outline yes" to "draw_outline no" that fix the problem completely (cpu load 1-2%),but i don't like the look of the conky now sad I hope i find solution for that too smile
Thanks again!
