I installed archlinux nearly 2 weeks ago. I've been at this for nearly 2 weeks now and stuck at the same position as the start when it comes to audio.
My audio quality is not as good as it was when I was on Linux Mint 9 64bit
I don't want to use pulseaudio as my experience with it causes more trouble than good
I read the ALSA wiki archlinux High quality resampling. I followed it exactly to the word
flash in chromium just crashes, when I load steam using wine... this is the output.
and on one line I noticed it says
ALSA lib dlmisc.c:236:(snd1_dlobj_cache_get) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_rate_samplerate.so
I've looked at that location and it's there... so I'm stuck here...
in the ".asoundrc" file stored at the root of my home folder I have stored inside like what is stated on the wiki but removed "_best"
I have tried it with "_best" and it shows the same error except it says
ALSA lib dlmisc.c:236:(snd1_dlobj_cache_get) Cannot open shared library /usr/lib32/alsa-lib/libasound_module_rate_samplerate_best.so
any suggestions?
thank you

works now
I did a re-install and noticed the library "lib32-libsamplerate" wasn't installed...
all this time I thought it was because I saw the modules in the "lib32" directory...
wonder why they are in there then...

In my case both packages lib32-libsamplerate and lib32-alsa-plugins was also required.
