[solved] Nautilus freezes when opening "properties"

Heya,

unfortunately I can no longer open the "Properties" dialogue when right-clicking on any file in Nautilus. Nautilus just freezes and sometimes Mutter notifies me about the freeze and asks if I want to kill nautilus.

When opening Nautilus in a shell I don't get any specific error messages...

Any ideas?

Same thing here. And there are some wrong file associations, too.

Ok, I did some further research:

The problem is definitely related to tracker and can (temporarily) solved by uninstalling tracker. There are two corresponding bug reports on the bugzillas of Novell and GNOME.

Although one post on the Novell bugzilla claims

JFYI, the tracker patch has been included in GNOME:Apps. I think it'll be in
GNOME:STABLE:3.0 soon.

the corresponding bug report at the GNOME tracker is still "UNCONFIRMED".

So hopefully a future update will fix the problem...

And, while waiting the fix, which tracker substitute do you like: pinot, beagle...?

bad solution, but the feature was not working anyway and we were missing properties dialog too so, with tracker installed:

sudo rm /usr/lib/nautilus/extensions-3.0/libnautilus-tracker-tags.so

Apparently the current version of tracker (0.10.19-2) does not cause the problem anymore, I mark the thread as solved.
