[SOLVED] XFCE new user questions

Hello all,

Been a long time Gnome user, and am trying XFCE since Gnome 3 came out, and I have a couple questions that I can't seem to find an answer for.

I have Arch64 installed (first time using 64-bit full time) and a base XFCE install.

1)  When I roll my mouse to the lower right hand corner of my monitor, the mouse pointer seems get "stuck" for about 3-5 seconds.  Not sure what is happening and how to make it stop.

(SOLVED)  2)  Is there a app in the default install of XFCE that will allow me to view TIFF files?  I tried the default image view, but it seems to lock up on my TIFF files. If there is no native app, are there any lightweight apps that will accomplish this?

I appreciate the help.

EDIT, marked Issue 2 solved.

I've never heard of the first issue before but mirage solves all of my TIFF image needs!

Re: [SOLVED] XFCE new user questions

@ConnorBehan,

thanx for the response, I am not sure what to do with the first issue.  I posted a question in the XFCE forums, and the response I got back was "clean the mouse".  That's been done, and when I boot to windows I don't see this issue.  When I had gnome, I didn't have this issue either.

Re: [SOLVED] XFCE new user questions

Does anyone have any ideas about issue 1 above?  the "sticky" area in the lower right corner of the desktop?  The area that is sticky looks to be roughly the same size as the "invisible grid" that XFCE uses for it's icon placement.

I am going to burn a live CD of Xubuntu to see if I get the same behavior on my home system.

Re: [SOLVED] XFCE new user questions

booted to Xubuntu, and didn't have the issue of the lower right corner.  The peeps in the XFCE forum thinks it could be due to something happening during the install.

Any ideas?

Re: [SOLVED] XFCE new user questions

Never seen anything like it.  Something is being activated by the entry into that area.

How about running htop in a terminal window sorted by cpu time, move the cursor to the sticky spot, and see if something bubbles to the top of the htop display.

Re: [SOLVED] XFCE new user questions

@ewaller,

When I run "top" the only things that pops up to the top of the list is X, and when the cursor comes away from that area, X moves back down the list.

I did not merge this thread because this thread has multiple topics.

Re: [SOLVED] XFCE new user questions

I will mark this thread solved since there is another thread mentioning the lower right corner issue I am having.
