CDROM symlinks with latest udev

After updating to the latest udev 170-1 (and kernel 2.6.39, but I don't think that's connected) I don't get any /dev/cdrom or /dev/dvd symlinks.  I do follow the mailing list, and saw some discussion of changes to the udev rules, but I'm not totally clear on the current situation.

Can someone confirm - should I still expect to see these symlinks automatically created with the new rules setup?

Re: CDROM symlinks with latest udev

The post install message generated by pacman said that they would no longer be created.
