Looking for something that zooms as well as the compiz zoom plugin.

Hello. I've searched the forums/internet.
Right now I'm using XFCE4 and compiz as a WM... I need to use the Enhanced Zoom Desktop plugin from time to time as my eyes suck.  I also like my resolution (1680x1050) and don't want to change it.
Anyways I'd like to find something that is functionally similar -- it can dynamically zoom in and out (using my touchpad/scrollwheel), following my cursor.  For example, gnome-shell has a built in zoom feature for disabled access (i guess through mutter) but it is:
A) not controlled by the touchpad
B) only works in "levels"
C) seems like a WIP

Does anyone know of any zoom tools that don't require installing compiz?

thanks!

gnome-shell-mousewheel-zoom-git from AUR is a little script I wrote for gnome-shell which allows you to zoom with Left-Alt and the mouse scrollwheel.

I don't see gnome-shell as a dependency.  Can I install it in XFCE?
Thanks

Thanks for catching that, unfortunately I don't think it can be installed with XFCE as it uses the org.gnome.Magnifier dbus interface. The PKGBUILD in AUR has been changed to reflect this (added gnome-shell as a dependency).
