Mplayer DVD playback

Hey,

I'm new to Arch, used to do Gentoo, and so far everything has worked out fine .
I have however run into a snag i can't figure out.
DVD playback ability seems to be sporadic.

I have tried to use both VLC, Mplayer and xine.
The DVD i'm trying to play is Supernatural Season 1 Disc 2, retail PAL.
VLC just flashed the title briefly in the statusbar, and cancels.
Xine just says there is no data on the DVD.
MPlayer gives this output:
-----------------
MPlayer SVN-r33159-4.5.2 (C) 2000-2011 MPlayer Team
162 audio & 359 video codecs

Playing dvd://1.
There are 11 titles on this DVD.
There are 1 angles in this DVD title.
audio stream: 0 format: ac3 (stereo) language: en aid: 128.
audio stream: 1 format: ac3 (stereo) language: de aid: 129.
number of audio channels on disk: 2.
subtitle ( sid ): 0 language: en
subtitle ( sid ): 1 language: de
subtitle ( sid ): 2 language: da
subtitle ( sid ): 3 language: fi
subtitle ( sid ): 4 language: no
subtitle ( sid ): 5 language: pl
subtitle ( sid ): 6 language: pt
subtitle ( sid ): 7 language: sv
subtitle ( sid ): 8 language: de
number of subtitles on disk: 9

Exiting... (End of file)

And then it writes something about not being able to crack CSS keys...

Can anyone help me out with this?

Re: Mplayer DVD playback

Try mplayer2.
Do you have libdvdcss installed (and compiled against)?

Please use [ code ] tags when pasting code - https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode

Re: Mplayer DVD playback

libdvdcss is installed... And it can crack some of the CSS keys..

With mplayer2 it says the exact same and adds this line: "failed to recognize file format".
It's a standard DVD with zone2 (proper zone for Denmark) and video is VOB files.

Re: Mplayer DVD playback

A standard DVD as in a physical disc placed in the DVD drive? This might sound silly but have you tried playing a different title? DVDs do have very little in title 1 sometimes

mplayer dvd://2

Re: Mplayer DVD playback

Yes a physical dvd in my dvd drive. I have palyed other DVD's succesfully, it seems random which discs it rejects.

I have tried all the titles.. from 0 to 11, after that it says title doesnt excist.
I also tried ogle, which gives same result.

This seems to be an issue with libdvd since it's the RSS keys that keeps giving errors.

Re: Mplayer DVD playback

Mhmmm but it's about 50% of my dvd's so far. It's kindof weird.
What are the usual reasons for the CSS key errors?

Re: Mplayer DVD playback

Use dvdnav:// for Arccos crippled discs. Even if if you don't intend to use the menus, it's needed. But it's not a big deal, dvdnav://1 will go straight to the first title, bypassing the menus.

Re: Mplayer DVD playback

Hey,
dvdnav:// just gives the same CSS errors, and then a lot of new stream errors.
I tried some other discs, same error.
