Kayali is a Qt based Computer Algebra System (CAS) that can also be used as an advanced replacement for KDE KCalc.
It is essentially a front end GUI for Maxima (and is easily extended to other CAS back-ends) and Gnuplot.

This looks like really useful software and should be easy to build based on the directions. When I tried running it, however, it choked when looking for a pdf module from a 3rd-party developer called ReportLab. This is not listed in the dependencies on the sourceforge page. Hopefully this was just a simple oversight, so I mailed the Kayali developer and will report back here if and when I get an answer.
