Hi folks
I tried to record a screencast in the Gnome Shell using the built-in feature, but it's not working; there's no red dot and no file in my home directory. Is there a package I need to install? Or is it possible that the Keyboard-Shortcut is in conflict with another program, if so does somebody know how to change it?
Thanks

Screencast use gstreamer, and vp8 encoder by default, (org.gnome.shell.recorder.pipeline in dconf if you want to change it) which is in bad plugins.
After installing 'gstreamer0.10-bad-plugins' and restarting shell (alt+F2 then 'r') recording works for me. ~/.xsession-errors was also helpful.
You might solved it already, i wrote if someone still have this problem, like i just had.

No, I hadn't solved it, thanks

I know this is old but it might help somebody else as it did with me.
On my PC I had set up the "change keyboard layout" shortcut since I use two different languages on my keyboard, I used the Alt + Shift combination to change between layouts, as it turned out this prevented me from starting the screencast recording.
To fix the problem I had changed the key for keyboard layouts to "Scroll Lock" after that everything works just fine

Hi!
I have a problem with recording gnome3 screencast. When i press the shortcut key then the red corner appears as it is supposed to. But when i finish recording I only get 300 bytes large files every time and running it with totem says:
(totem:4286): libpeas-WARNING **: grilo: libgrilo-0.1.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
(totem:4286): libpeas-WARNING **: Error loading plugin 'grilo'

Really would love to get it working in some way.

Searched screencast on the bugtracker, not sure what I should be looking for.

The solution is here: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/30013 (in the comments)
Grab the downgade pkg here: http://arm.konnichi.com/search/index.ph … ommunity=1 (link is to x64 pkgs - change architecture radio button for x86)
You want the "libvpx-1.0.0-1" pkg
Downgrade libvpx with
# pacman -U <location-of-downloaded-libvpx-pkg>

Thank you! Got it all working now

Just wonder which ones plugins package is responsible for screencast recording? Does gst and gstreamer packages may conflict with each other when they installed together?

CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+R no working Gnome Shell 3.12 for me. Everything plugins codec is instaled, RED bullet icon right up panel lights, but in home directory Videos nothing video file, what is fucking wrong...

Please don't necrobump, Brainwall. And also, is there a question here?
