Memory Leaks?

I run Arch Linux with DWM. Upon a fresh boot and just after starting X Windows, "free -m" says that I have 92kB used. After some time (days), my "free -m" says I have 400+ kB used after killing all user programs, but with X Windows.

After killing X Windows, I still have 300+ kB used.

Why is there such a significant increase in memory usage? And why doesn't it drop to normal after X is killed?

If DWM has memory leaks, shouldn't the OS clean them up after X Windows ends?

EDIT:

not kilobyte, megabyte. woops

Re: Memory Leaks?

I don't experience anything like this. Usually it's enough to restart firefox, sometimes (after many days and viewing many GBs worth of images) I restart X. In both cases I'm down to about 70 MB for X + dwm.

Are you reading 'free -m' right? https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/FA … _my_RAM.3F

Re: Memory Leaks?

Yeah just reading it wrong. 85 megabytes with DWM and surf running.
