I'm a long-term linux user and only switched to Arch a few weeks ago. I'm loving the speediness of the distro and have successfully used the wikis to troubleshoot various issues.
However, I'm unable to get my Canon Powershot camera to be detected properly. The camera works fine in Fedora and Kubuntu out of the box.
I followed the instructions at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Digital_Cameras, however some of the commands, such as /usr/lib/libgphoto2/print-camera-list udev-rules mode 0660 version 0.98 group camera > /etc/udev/rules.d/90-libgphoto2.rules, appear to be out of date, as they aren't recognised.
The camera doesn't appear to be detected as a mass storage device, as it's not listed in Dolphin.
What I would like to do is be able to launch Gwenview to download the photos as I do in other distros, however Gwenview does not find any photos. I've installed libghoto2.
Any ideas? This must be a common problem, and I'm surprised the wiki is not up to date. Thanks.

Have you used the quick commands from https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Di … as#GPhoto2 ?
This is what they should produce http://www.gphoto.org/doc/manual/using-gphoto2.html
Works for my Canon Powershot A530.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, those commands identify the camera and allow me to connect to it. However, the camera is still not listed as a storage device in Dolphin, and Gwenview reports "URL cannot be listed camera:/".
Using the command line to import photos seems tiresome given that other distros allow the use of graphical frontends.

Anyone got their camera working with Gwenview? The device notifier shows the option to open the camera with Gwenview (in fact, it's the only option and there isn't an option to open it with Dolphin), however when I click on that, it reports, "URL cannot be listed camera:/". Likewise, when I enter "camera:/" in Dolphin (which works in Fedora and Kubuntu), it's not successful.
Using the command "gphoto2 --get-all-files" works fine and I could continue to use that, however using Gwenview would allow me to view photos on the camera without necessarily downloading them (and would be easier).

I'm using a Canon Powershot SD600 with digikam. Sems to work fine. Did you add yourself to the "camera" group?

Yes, I added myself to the camera group.
After Googling some more, I suspect the issue might be resolved by me installing kdegraphics-kamera. My KDE installation is very minimalisitic, so I suspect that's the problem. I'll try it once I get home from work.

Could be. I do have that installed.

It fixed it. I now get offered the option to open pictures with Gwenview or Dolphin.
That was my last obstacle in fully switching to Arch. Now that's solved, what do I do? I'm done distro hopping.
