Hey guys,
I have just set up my MacBook Pro 5,5 with Arch and Gnome 3. Works brilliantly - everything seems to be supported (almost) out of box. I am just missing one thing: screen backlight adjusting!
I set up Xorg with the nvidia proprietary drivers by installing the packages 'nvidia' and 'nvidia-utils' as described in the wiki. I have a NVIDIA GeForce 9400 graphics card, so I believe the newest drivers is what I need, so I don't think that is what has gone wrong.
The wiki then says to install `nvidia_bl`[1] from AUR to fix the missing screen backlight adjusting problem, but it doesn't work. I have added the nvidia_bl module to rc.conf, and lsmod also lists it, so it should be running.
I did an install of Chakra Linux on this machine yesterday, and installing `nvidia_bl` fixed the missing screen backling adjusting problem, but on Arch, it doesn't seem to work.
Any ideas to get this working?
