Wireless NIC suspends automatically on HP Pavilion dv6500

I just recently Arch on my old laptop to experiment with it as a file server. No plans to install Xorg on it. I have managed to get it connected to my wireless network, but it disconnects after some time. I'm not closing the lid, but it still happens. The timeout occurs after about 5 min idle time. I'm not losing my IP, and the connection's back up after a few seconds of pinging, but that's enough to make it useless as a server. I'm fairly new to this and since this is a new system with little configuration done, this seems to be default behaviour? Do you have any tips as to what I may try? Could the driver might be causing the issue? I've tried searching the forums, but so far haven't found what I'm looking for.

As a newbie Arch user, I haven't tried all that much, so please let me know if there's anything I should add.
