socket 775 heatsinks

ok, stupid question - I bought this Zalman heatsink for my socket 775 P4... now the OEM heatsinks have these plastic pegs which snap into holes around the processor on the motherboard.  This Zalman has screws and a plate that comes off... my question:
Am I supposed to attach this plate to the bottom of the motheboard and then screw the heatsink into it?

Do you have a pic of the new? Without seeing it I would say yes. Normally the whole damn thing has to come out to replace it, the're a real pain...

Re: socket 775 heatsinks

Let us know how it works (sounds) compared to the stock cooler.
I was also planning to get one, but I'm not sure it fits my case.

Or.. I could go for watercooling. I've seen a 3GHz overclocked at 4.smth GHz running at ~33C at a local IT fair... and the water pump was really small (the size of a fist).

I've been debating going watercooling as well - when the board kicks into high gear the faqns are kinda loud... and they're all 120mm... *shrug*
