I have a toshiba a505 with an expresscard/54mm. I have a usb3.0 card I want to get working with it.
If I have the card inserted into the laptop during *power on* the card is seen and is usable in linux. When I eject the card it still shows up in "lspci", however the card no longer works.
If I boot the system without the card then insert it, it is never seen or detected. The bios doesn't have any options about pcie hotplug.
I've messed around with pciehp, changing the modules options
pciehp_force=1 pciehp_debug=1 pciehp_poll_time=1 pciehp_detect_mode=acpi (also tried pcie)
Nothing seems to work there.
I've also been screwing with acpi (added acpi=copy_dsdt to grub boot) but that doesn't seem to do anything either.
I know these laptops can be problematic, what else can I do to try to get the express card to work via hotplug?
I'll go check for a new bios as well since I haven't done that yet.
Solution: load the acpiphp module.
Update: this has rebusted with linux-3.0 Can't get any expresscard to be detected, whether it's plugged in on power on ir hotplugged during boot. Definite regresssion.
