Conflicting versions of Wesnoth

Hello,
Why are wesnoth packages conflicting with each other? It's a bit annoying, that when I want to play stable version, I have to purge development and install stable. In debian I could have two different versions of wesnoth installed simultaneously.

BTW. 1.9.7 is out, you can add it to AUR

Re: Conflicting versions of Wesnoth

If a new version came out, please flag it out of date in the AUR.
I think you can install a package in /opt so you can have multiple versions of e.g. firefox that won't conflict with each other.
