I am in the process of optmimizing my laptop for optmimal power usage on arch. I've installed powertop and there only seems to be a few more issues left:
Bad VM writeback timeout
Bad NMI watchdog should be turned off
I wasn't able to find much about these settings on the wiki. Is there a way I can have these tweaked to more optimal settings when on battery?

Googling comes up with these:
An explanation of the NMI watchdog is at http://www.mjmwired.net/kernel/Document … tchdog.txt.
I found an explanation of VM writeback time at http://www.lesswatts.org/tips/disks.php.

Thanks, after reading about NMI watchdog in more detail it doesn't sound like something I need at all, so I disabled it on my grub kernel line.
Manged to find the setting in laptop-mode to increase the writeback time on battery as well.

These may come in handy;
The powermanagement settings I run at startup - http://pastie.org/2116887
Currently not setting the pci slots on auto, my usb3 ports don't seem to co-operate well with it.
http://www.lesswatts.org/tips/ is a good source of information.
