byobu fails to reconnect to session

Hi,
I installed byobu a week or so ago and got it mostly working. The problem I'm having now is that when i log into the computer via ssh i get this:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/home/zarcjap/byobu/bin/byobu-select-session", line 21, in <module>
    import commands, os, re, sys
ImportError: No module named commands

If I restart the computer and then reconnect, byobu launches no problem, but the next time I get the same error.
Is there anyway to fix this? Thanks.
