I use hotkeys to control volume in my system via xbindkeys. Now after I updated the system my "amixer" cannot be run as normal user, while I can run it as root.
While a normal user it gives me an error.
amixer: Mixer attach default error: Invalid argument
to volume up I use "amixer -q sset Master 5+"
How can I get it work?
And can somebody advice me a STABLE text mode volume mixer, cause later I used aumix that failed after update too.

None of these may work but as amixer works as root you should give them a try:
1. make sure that you are in the audio group.
2. make sure that amixer is not an alias (`type amixer`).
3. try removing ~/.asoundrc if it exists.
