Re: July 2011 Screenshots

A lot of really cool shots this month.
I especially like tacticalbread, jasonwryan, and cloudef's shots. Well done, guys!

Back to xfwm4.8 with compositing, true transparency in urxvt, and xfdesktop (if anyone knows another wallpaper setter that xfwm dosen't plain deny with compositing please let me know!). Keeping the dzen style of my rio desktop though, and streamlining it in a gnome3-inspired style. ipager to keep track of the desktops in the rare case i forget which one I'm on (dwm spoiled me into keeping them very neat and organized big_smile).

The wallpaper is a beautiful picture by ether, here: http://ether.deviantart.com/art/oubliette-31723530

xfwm theme made from scratch by me, and the ipager and dzen configs are my own. If you want them, I can share :3

Re: July 2011 Screenshots

I get used to use Gnome 3 and it's just perfect for me. Everything is working like a charm and my Arch is running like never before .....

It's not that 'lightweight' as it can be with other DE's/WM's but, hey I'm loving it ....

Here are my july shots ....

Looking good! Can't wait till I can start using GNOME3 when it'll work with Catalyst. xf86-video-ati just isn't an option 'cause of its bad powermanagement

Yeah, that's true. My lappy has an integrated Intel card and an ATI 5470 HD one. I've pulled my hair out to enable the ATI one but with out of success.

The 3d is quite solid with the Intel one so I'm just disabling the ATI card with an acpi_call so my battery lasts for approximately 3h.

Take Care

Back to xfwm4.8 with compositing...

Is that xfwm alone (i.e. without the rest of XFCE)? That's an interesting approach -- I might look into it.

Awesome shot, even though the bottom bar's style doesn't fit into the rest - a little criticism (*my taste is the only way to go*)!
I cross my fingers and hope you'll win the gentoo contest (*thinks* that should provide me with a share from the prize).
