Terraria!

I didn't really hear much about this game when it first came out a month or so ago, but I recently saw it 25% off on steam... and decided to watch some videos. 20 minutes later, I had bought a 4 pack, excited to give it to some of my friends and start an adventure! Anyone else play?

Very lively thread.

I've tried to follow the instructions at: http://www.steamgamesonlinux.com/terraria/ but I cannot get past step 7a:

Step 7a: If you get a message that .NET is already installed, use regedit and delete this Node:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP\v4
Then return to Step 7 above.

I've got into the registry and deleted that key but it still says I have same or better version installed. Anyone want to help shed some light?

I've done pretty much everything that can be done in the game. I'm now experimenting with building stuff and such, making a huge boat at the end of the world. I've sunk it deep into the ocean, cleaned out all of the water, walled it (it's made out of wood) and now I need to make the upper part. After that I need to make rooms and decorate, invinite my NPC (and real) friends to see it, etc. It spannes almost trough the whole ocean, the part that's in the water is some 10 blocks from the bottom, the upper part will be at least two times higher.
Anyway, I'm now trying to setup Terraria here and I'm at the part where .NET 4 installs just fine after deleting the node.

Bah, it seems I can't play it because of the drivers. I have an old card, x1650 Pro, and it may be because of the open source drivers that the game doesn't detect any 3D cards.

Too bad it doesn't get past that .net v4 step for me I'll just have to boot into windows when I want to play

Also, today only, steam is having a sale on it, 75% off! (~2.50)!

Sorry for the necropost but if you are still subscribed to this thread then you will want to hear this

There has been an unofficial port of Terraria to mono:
Linaria: Terraria for Linux

Sound doesn't seem to work for me and the music fix scripts fail. But it still runs. You may need monogame from AUR (I haven't checked without it)

^From what I can read in the thread, Wine does a better job, so I would probably just stick with Wine and the steam version.

Sadly with the newer Wine versions .Net 4 doesn't install right any more. I gave up after hours of no success. I built an old wine 1.3.37 but maybe should try older.

1.3.33 and 1.3.34 used to work fine.
