Resolutions disappeared - Not reading EDID all of a sudden

I turned on my computer this morning and everything was normal.

I decided to add net-auto-wired from Netcfg to my /etc/rc.conf Daemons line. As well as the WIRED_INTERFACES="eth0" line. I made no other changes, I didn't install anything or change any other files.
Then I did a restart: sudo shutdown -r now

When I got back into X I was stuck at 1024x768. Using xrandr I can see that all the resolutions that used to be available have disappeared and I'm stuck with only 1024x768, 800x600, 640x480 or 848x480 to choose from.

I was lucky enough to have all the resolutions auto-detected when I installed Arch. I didn't have to add anything to xorg.conf.d, though I do have this from when I was playing with 2 monitors months ago:

#/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-radeon.conf
Section "Device"
    Identifier "r"
    Driver "radeon"
    Option "EnablePageFlip" "1"
EndSection

I tried adding a new 1440x900 mode through xrandr using a modeline generated by cvt. But then the screen needs repositioning on the monitor (ie. not auto-positioned like the monitor normally does).
Also, the refresh rate or something doesn't seem quite right, even though it is listed as the same as it used to be 59.9Hz.

I've commented out/removed the things I added to rc.conf and it doesn't fix anything.
How do I get it to read the EDID like before? Why would it stop reading it?

Things went back to normal for no apparent reason...

Using a vga cable? If so it is perfectly normal. EDID over vga is not reliable.

Switch to dvi if you can, alternativly you can provide the edid yourself or use a modeline if the problem reappears.
