Getting web camera to work in web-browser (besides Gmail) is practically the only problem I wasn't able to solve on Linux. Everything else I use on my PC works in linux now (printers, scanners.. whatever).
I have Philips SPC900NC webcam and it works fine in Skype, Gmail (using that plug-in).
However, whenever I go to some page like Omegle or Chatroulette, it tells me that only "Linux Microphone" was detected, and no webcamera was found.
I don't really go to such sites a lot, but sometimes I am a bit irritated that I can't get my web cameras to work in browsers after using Linux for almost 4-5 years (under Ubuntu, Sus, Arch.. and others).
I have looked in wiki : https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Webcam_Setup and I don't believe I found anything there to help me with this. I understand that my camera uses pwc driver. I am not sure if I need to add udev to rc.conf daemon array or not.

Well sites like omegle run flash (pretty sure) so you'll have to go:
http://www.macromedia.com/support/docum … ger04.html
And click omegle (or whatever site) and click "always allow". I just went through every option and allowed access to my webcam. Worked for tinychat.com.

I tried that before. And it still doesn't work. Those sites just say "Camera is not detected" or "Camera is required"... etc

If you're using 64 bit and the flashplugin from multilib, you probably need to install the lib32-v4l-utils for it to work, although since you say it works in Skype then you might already have that, but worth checking ![]()

I still having the same problem.
However, I just discovered that my camera does get detect - when I go to KDE's System Settings > Multimedia > Video Recording....
There, I can see my camera, with correct name. And when I tried to test it, it worked.
However, webcamera still doesn't work anywhere on the web.
