Flash video freezes and terminal commands lag

I'm using zsh but I have urxvt installed too. For some reason, when I type stuff in the terminal I can see the first portion of whatever it is I'm typing but then it's like the terminal freezes and I can't see the rest unless I run my mouse over the terminal.

Anyone know what the problem is?

I think it has something to do with my graphics drivers or settings, because I also have issues playing flash videos and I have to run my mouse over the video to get it to play again, like I do in the terminal.

I installed the intel drivers for my Thinkpad T61 but I have no xorg.conf, could this be it?

Also, on the arch wiki for my laptop it says something about kernel drivers, where do I get those and could that be an issue if I don't have them?

I'm not sure what's causing it so I don't know what kind of information to give to help my situation, so just ask me if you have an idea.

I have the exact same problem as you describe. The following bug report might be of interest to you: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/24790
