I can't get Banshee to detect my iPod classic 5th gen ?

Do I need to install a specific package for this or should "pacman -S banshee" have given me all the required packages for iPod compatibility ?

I even tried editing the SysInfo file in /iPod_Control/Device/SysInfo and adding the iPod's Firewire ID to it .

I have libgpod installed .

Amarok and gtkpod don't detect my iPod either ..

Do you already tried how mentioned in wiki? trying mount as device with ifuse? I do not have a ipod 5th gen, you should give some more info how it is detected on system.

Are you on kernel 3 or later?  There's an issue which can be gotten around by downgrading to 26.

Which model do you have.
5th gen -> ipod video (polished plastic frame)
6th gen -> ipod classic (aluminium frame)

I'm not sure if this is relevant. But Apple changed the way they encrypt the ipods databank on the step from the ipod video (5th gen) to the ipod classic (6th gen). This is why some open source tools stop supporting devices fabricated after this os step.
Maybe check on the banshee site to see if yours is supported.
