phonon for Amarok... which one?

Previously I used xine.. and it worked great.
But recently my Amarok was failing to start and now I have discovered that xine is unsupported package now. Why is that?

I have tried to use gstreamer, but it fails to play any mp3 in Amarok.
I also tried vlc phonon, but it making a clicking sound at the start of each audio track.

For gstreamer you may need to install some plugins to play e.g. mp3s and other non-free codecs. I think it's best to install the whole group: 'pacman -S gstreamer0.10-plugins'.

@kachelaqa: Thank for filling me in.

@karol: that solved it. I didn't know I had to install something extra for mp3 playback.

I think the VLC output is the latest recommended by KDE devs. I might be wrong, but I recall reading that somewhere. First it was Xine, then GStreamer, then MPlayer somewhere along this, then VLC.

I need real, proper pen and paper for this.
