Battery drain while powered off [SOLVED]

A few weeks ago I bought a new Compaq CQ56 notebook. I installed Arch without any special issues. After a while I noticed that battery is loosing power even when notebook is powered off; approximately 8% /day. Google was not helpful. Even more – the search results I've got lead me to a conclusion that radeon was not properly powered off, but that wasn't true in my case.

On the other hand I've noticed that while the notebook was powered off from Gentoo minimal live CD the battery remained at 100% even after it has been powered off for a few days.

To make the long story short, the device that consumed power was the wired network card, more precisely the Wake-On-LAN function.
A simple line in /etc/rc.local.shutdown solved the problem:

echo "ethtool -s eth0 wol d" >> /etc/rc.local.shutdown
