Distorted audio

Over time, my sound seems to have gotten buggy. Everything sounds distorted and overamplified even when the volume levels are moderately low. I think it has something to do with PulseAudio but I'm not sure how to go about fixing it.

There is no system but GNU and Linux is one of its kernels.

Re: Distorted audio

Laptop or PC? 2 speakers, or more? Using headphones? Tried switching any cables?

Re: Distorted audio

Laptop with two internal speakers. I know it must be PulseAudio because it was working fine until very recently and I've had the same experience when running PA on my other laptops. In the past I resolved it by removing PulseAudio but I think it's required for Gnome 3.
