ever since yesterday, after no updates or anything my mouse after a reboot just quit working. I've changed batteries, switched out mouses booted up in both kernel26-ARCH and kernel26-ck. Which logs should I be checking or where should I turn to take a look at the settings. By the way, I'm running openbox on a MBP.

I guess you have a wireless mouse with USB receiver. So. It could be the receiver. So check output of
xinput list
You have to see in output something like this "USB Receiver"
If there is no difference of output with plug/unplug receiver, it means the receiver is probably death. Test with another computer.

Used lmctl instead, hope that works.
dissapears when pluged in and reappears when plugged in so seems to be working that way.
Here is my xorg.conf:

Try to use it with different computer / system (Win) / system liveCD (Ubuntu ...) if the problem persist contact you mouse supplier. The receiver in a mouse is probably death.
You could also try to run maker supported mouse-receiver binding software and try to reset-up the connection.

I was finally able to get everything working as expected after some tinkering. Now if I could only get my mouse wheel to have momentum when scrolling I would be set. Anyone know how to do that? Marking as solved.

What about a little sharing of you new knowledge with rest of us. Otherwise, this solved post give people only impression: "There is a guy whose mouse stop working and now it works again!"
Many thanks

Just suggestion for next time. If you post output from command, do it as plain text rather then as png file. At least, an advantage of the plain text is that this is indexed for searching.

Sorry, that is selfish of me. So I plugged my mouse into one of my desktops running windows and waiting for the mouse to be detected. I then put in new batteries and held the reset button on my mouse for 20 seconds. I then did the same on the reciever and after a 3-4 second wait my mouse was finally recongnized. I blame it on the shoddy batteries that came with the mouse in the first place. I tested them and they did not output a constant voltage at all.
