mpd permission denied on music folder

Hi, I am trying to get mpd to work on my arch box asi I have read lots of good stuff regarding its flexibility and power, but Im having some weird issues, I have checked the forums, Arch and mpd wikis and nothing explains what is going on. The user I defined on the mpd.conf is my username, and I am trying to make mpd play/index music from an external hdd mounted on /media/Maxtor, the music folder itself is /media/Maxtor/Musica, I have mpd start at boot using rc.conf, but when I try to connect to sonata I get nothing, also mpd log file located at /var/log/mpd/mpd.log shows this:

Jul 24 12:13 : update: Failed to stat /media/Maxtor/Musica: Permission denied

I have checked permissions on this drive and its owned by me with read and write access so no idea what is wrong.

What filesystem is on that external hdd? NTFS?
