Microphone in Skype plays back my voice fast

Hi,

Ever since I upgraded to Gnome 3, I've been having problems with talking on my Webcam's built in microphone using Skype. When I make a test call, it plays my voice very quick (I don't know if there's any term for that) like kids. I am on a 64 bit machine and have 32 bit repository on.

I can see record my voice using cheese.

Any idea how I can get Skype working under gnome 3?

I had Gnome3 and Skype working fine on my Laptop, but when I made a "test" call with Skype it also sounded a little bit crackly and fast at first.
(skype auto-adjusts the volume levels on mine).
But when I did a "real" call, it was fine at both our ends after a second or so.

As far as your "...it plays my voice very quick ..."
Talk a bit slower ?

Hahaha. No matter how slow I talk, it plays it fast.

But when I did a "real" call, it was fine at both our ends after a second or so.?

Then I will try to test it with the first person who appears on line. Hopefully they receive my voice fine.

I have been suffering the same problem here for the last 2 months. Sometimes its works ok and sometimes (the most) I sound like a chipmunk.
I have test with the kernel26-lts and it seems to work fine. So It seems to be something kernel related.
By the way my webcam is a Logitech HD C310. And I have only tested in Skype.

Same problem here aswell , fucking annoying when you have to use skype all the time

EDIT: just uninstalled skype and all its deps and reinstalled it now it is all good?

@smakked: I have deep clean and reinstalled various skype versions you can find in the AUR. For me, the only solution has been and "old" kernel.

I just upgraded google-voice plugin in AUR and got Google+ hangout working. I won't have much hopes on Skype to work properly on Linux since it is acquired by Microsoft. Let's hope Google improves its VoIP quality and service for all users including Linux ones.

Yes, that recent news is heartbreaking.  Skype in Linux is a "dead-duck" now, thx to M$.
I cancelled my "paid" renewal with Skype because I refuse to pay Microsoft money (especially for something that they will definitely not support, or even build anymore for Linux).
I mean, it's not like the Skype dev's, ..., even before M$ bought them, ever cared, or gave a rat's-petoobee about Skype for Linux anyway. ?!

  so I guess it's Google/Talk for now.
Hopefully google remains in competition with Microsoft enough, that they begin to see ALL the potential Linux  users' out there.
Screw Skype now.
