Check /var/log/pacman.log.

Must be this;
[2011-07-31 07:22] warning: /etc/rc.conf installed as /etc/rc.conf.pacnew
[2011-07-31 07:22] VERBOSE= in rc.conf no longer has any effect.
[2011-07-31 07:22] Please append 'quiet' to your kernel command line.
It's not in rc.d

Please use [ code ] tags when pasting code https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode
Did Windows mess-up the dates too? 2011-07-09 was 3 weeks ago.
I agree w/ swanson - I think the warning told you to deal with rc.conf changes and not rc.d.
Dear swanson
YES. correct. Exactly, what is to be done?
You mean apart from the usual careful merging of changes?

Hey, I just tried diff for the first time;
diff -ybwB /etc/rc.conf /etc/rc.conf.pacnew

There are many tools that can help even more https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=35803 :-)

Thx Karol, thats seems interesting!
By the way, one significant change to rc.conf was the added setting of broadcast= in the network section.
Another was the increased verbosity when booting, if you don't apply 'quiet' to your kernel line (which you don't).
