ekiga: /usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/@GETTEXT_PACKAGE@.mo exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

I have gettext-0.18.1.1-3 installed, which is likely causing the conflict over
gettext-runtime.mo and
gettext-tools.mo

what's necessary to resolve this? Thanks.

It's a bug - here's the fix apparently.

Ah, that makes sense. Then gnome-system-tools and grdesktop (from AUR) must also not be setting GETTEXT_PACKAGE correctly.

/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/@GETTEXT_PACKAGE@.mo is owned by grdesktop 0.23-8
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES/GETTEXT_PACKAGE.mo is owned by gnome-system-tools 3.0.0-1

I recommend you file an Arch bug (I don't actually use Arch).

The conflicts were all due to grdesktop-0.23-8. After removing it ekiga installed with no conflicts. However, ekiga generates 85 files in
/usr/share/locale/*/LC_MESSAGES/@GETTEXT_PACKAGE@.mo due to the bug @brebs mentions.

I will file Arch bugs for ekiga and gnome-system-tools if that's appropriate.
