[SOLVED] AES Errors On Bootup

Getting some errors in the last week every time I boot up.

Intel AES-NI instructions are not detected
  padlock_aes: VIA PadLock not detected

I haven't been able to Google much about a solution. As far as I can find, if my hardware doesn't support this specific AES encryption, then it gives these errors. It's kind of irritating to see the errors because I boot up to a terminal (not X) and it actually happens AFTER it gives me the login prompt ... even if I have not logged in yet. I'm still able to login, but it is weird seeing the login prompt, then the error (if I plug in an external drive (USB, SD) it will show messages about that as well ... could be a separate issue here though).

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: [SOLVED] AES Errors On Bootup

When you upgraded you got

[2011-07-31 18:35] warning: /etc/rc.conf installed as /etc/rc.conf.pacnew
[2011-07-31 18:35] VERBOSE= in rc.conf no longer has any effect.
[2011-07-31 18:35] Please append 'quiet' to your kernel command line.

in your pacman output, right?

I have no idea about the AES issue.

Re: [SOLVED] AES Errors On Bootup

Why yes, yes it did. Granted, I didn't relate the two at the time nor did I actually follow the instructions.

With "quiet" added to my kernel command line, it no longer gives me either of the error message.
Everything worked before, and still works ... except without visually unappealing errors new!

Thank you!

Re: [SOLVED] AES Errors On Bootup

I think the aes error is harmless and will be fixed soon http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs … 27800.html :-)
Please mark as solved.
