[SOLVED] preventing nouveau initialization

After seeing that nouveau is very buggy, I decided to uninstall it, so I removed the

xf86-video-nouveau

package. But even then, after restarting the system, I noticed the following -

Re: [SOLVED] preventing nouveau initialization

nouveau is in the kernel. What are you trying to do and nouveau is in your way?

Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.

Re: [SOLVED] preventing nouveau initialization

You need to blacklist the nouveau module: Create a file /etc/modprobe.d/nouveau_blacklist.conf that contains "blacklist nouveau"
and reboot. Read more on module blacklisting.

I'm not sure if this'll work, I'll tell you where exactly I have blacklisted nouveau on my home pc. Additionally the nvidia packages should contain a script that blacklists the module in question

Re: [SOLVED] preventing nouveau initialization

That's how nvidia blacklists nouveau

[karol@white ~]$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/nouveau_blacklist.conf
blacklist nouveau

When pasting code, please use [ code ] tags https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#bbcode not [quote ] tags

like this

It makes the code more readable and more convenient to scroll through.

Well, it's delaying the startup process considerably. That's why I thought that maybe I can do something about it. And I have the intel video driver installed, so I think there is no need of nouveau, is there?

Re: [SOLVED] preventing nouveau initialization

SO the blacklisting solved the problem...marking the thread as SOLVED now.
