IBM ServRAID-8k adapter kernel panic'd ffffffff.

I've got IBM System x3650 type 7979 with ServeRAID-8k adapter (lspci shows 04:00.0 RAID bus controller: Adaptec AAC-RAID (Rocket) (rev 02)). IBM is not willing to assist here because Arch Linux (I'm using it on the server) and Ubuntu Server (I tried 11.04 for testing purpose on the same hardware with the same result - see below) are not among officially supported operating systems..
The problem is I can't install Linux with kernel version starting from 2.6.37 (2.6.36 works fine!) on this hardware raid. Adapter kernel bursts out. The latest Linux kernels are bundled with 1.1-7 aacraid module, but I get the same result sad - Linux kernel doesn't see drives in the raid.
Here's a cut from dmesg (kernel 2.6.37):

Adaptec aacraid driver 1.1-526400-ms
aacraid 0000:04:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 17 (level, low) -> IRQ 17
aacraid 0000:04:00.0: setting latency timer to 64
AAC0: adapter kernel panic'd ffffffff.
aacraid 0000:04:00.0: PCI INT A disabled

To pass ahead all the advises to update x3650 firmware I want to make you sure all the firmware is up to date (backplane 1.07 - the latest!, bios 1.19 - the latest, SAS disks firmware is the latest from ibm site, BMC 1.49 - the latest). Here's the output of arcconf (adaptec management utility) under 2.6.36 kernel, where everything works fine:
#arcconf getversion 1
Controllers found: 1
Controller #1
==============
Firmware : 5.2-0 (17002)
Staged Firmware : 5.2-0 (17002)
BIOS : 5.2-0 (17002)
Driver : 1.1-5 (26400)
Boot Flash : 5.1-0 (15412)

Could anyone give me an advise how to solve this issue (of course I can stay at 2.6.36 but I've got a reason to update to the latest)? Perhaps somebody stumbled on exactly the same problem and managed to solve it...

Re: IBM ServRAID-8k adapter kernel panic'd ffffffff.

Hi,

I had the very same problem.
Booting with pci=nocrs solved the problem.

Re: IBM ServRAID-8k adapter kernel panic'd ffffffff.

Sorry for delayed info. pci=nocrs worked OK, no adapter kernel panic.
