Is this release including the fix for GRUB being unable to install itself, so we had to use chroot? (GRUB Error 15, I think...)
Offline
Yes it fixes this. It includes the latest grub package from core.

Installation went without a hiccup. BTRFS for /.

Without fsck? Is that safe?

The system that was installed is only used as a printserver for someone's 3rd printer - It's more of a testcase than a critical production-system
BTW: I had to revisit the system because it appeared that grub2 was installed, but the timeout was not set, so grub2 would wait until a key was pressed. Running a
'# grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg'
was enough to get it to work, but it probably means something did go wrong with the install, which means there is still room for improvement (albeit veeeeeery little )

Added comment about broken swapspace creation bigger than 2GB, it's a bug in current util-linux in combination with kernel 3.0

Great work !
But i can't manage to get btrfs root fs working (no separate boot partition)
What I got when booting arch from grub:
error: file not found
error : you need to load kernel first
(grub error)
Using GRUB2-BIOS from installer, 1 subvol from installer and no further configuration

Subvolumes are not supported without /boot partition. Didn't setup error on this?
Offline
Yep, I have my boot folder under / in a subvolume, so it's that the problem ?
So just creating a separate boot partition in ext2 for example should solve it ?
Offline
Yes having boot on no subvolume solves this.

I am trying to set up a pure EFI boot with 2011.08-2 archboot "2k11-R5" but after grub2-efi-x86_64 is downloaded and installed the installer complains about not detecting GPT on " ." which leads me to believe that it actually cannot detect the device I'm trying to install GRUB to.
What information can I provide to help figure this out?
EDIT: Okay so I was able to get the no GPT detected complaint to go away by using /boot as the mountpoint for the 200MB EFI System partition (see below). But still can't boot up from that drive.
Disk /dev/sdd: 250GB
Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B
Partition Table: gpt
Number Start End Size File system Name Flags
1 1049kB 211MB 210MB fat16 EFI System boot
2 212MB 213MB 1049kB ext4 bios_grub
3 213MB 2001MB 1788MB ext4
