Tried ftp

command not found

tried
pacman -S ftp

not in the database.

Where is the ftp?

try gftp...   

pacman -Sy gftp

or go to http://www.archlinux.org/index.php and do a search for ftp and get several other ftp package options...   8)

You can also use pacman to search:
pacman -Ss ftp

pacman -S netkit-ftp

but i would much rather

pacman -S lftp
it's a much better client easier to use, better tab completion etc.
