gdm and xfce4 - need to get gdm to run xscreensaver

Old docs indicate that it is possible to get gdm to run xscreensaver.  Problem is gdm-3.x doesn't have a config util.  Has anyone done it and how smile

Not sure if I understand you completely...

Do you just want xscreensaver available and running in your Gnome 3 session or do you actually want the screensaver available in the GDM login screen?

Launch session properties:

$gnome-session-properties

and create a start-up application for xscreensaver using the command:

xscreensaver -no-splash

This will make sure xscreensaver is up and running in your Gnome 3 session.

Now, to get it running in the actual GDM login screen, copy the xscreensaver launcher from your session autostart to the GDM autostart as follows:

#cp /home/<USERNAME>/.config/autostart/xscreensaver.desktop /usr/share/gdm/autostart/LoginWindow

Cheers.
