I always hated "metal" - it reminded me of the crappiness of Motif widgets and things like that...

ocean isnt that bad but qt looks better..
but the most important thing for me atleast is that its not slow anymore... swing on java 1.5 is fast. If the gui is slow, then you are either running an old jvm, or the stupid gui programmer put lots of heavy code in the event dispatcher thread..
nice tip on the swing.aatext property... have to try that...
