[SOLVED] Packages created with epoch defined

When `epoch' is defined in a PKGBUILD,

$ makepkg --source

generates a tarball with a colon in it.  tar doesn't like colons in a name, and although there are at least two ways to get around this, it seems cumbersome and less than ideal.

Any comments?

Use bsdtar, a far superior program, and the one makepkg uses.

Re: [SOLVED] Packages created with epoch defined

I don't have trouble using these files, like I said, there are multiple ways of dealing with them.  I just think it's not good for a packaging program to generate these kinds of filenames, especially since Arch ships with GNU tar.

Anyway I was alerted to this:
https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/24270

Which is kind of what I was going for, so I guess that puts an end to this discussion.

Thanks.
