Bottom half of tv is tinted blue after being turned off

Using latest proprietary NVIDIA drivers and tv connected over hdmi. Using Xfce.

When first logging on everything is normal but if I turn off the tv then turn it back on, the bottom half of the screen is heavily tinted dark blue. Logging off restores it back to normal.
I tried taking a screenshot with 'import -w root screen.png' but the blue is not present in the resulting screenshot. There doesn't look to be anything relevant in the xorg logs.
