I just removed the PATHETIC nvidia drivers and got nouveau for good. My compiz animations look great, the only game I have now is gltron which plays with a few artifacts.
Another thing is my console resolution has become my default resolution(1600x900) , so the font seems damn small in all the terminals. This stresses my eyes whenever I use the laptop on a table or some other situation.
Any way to fix the game artifacts? And how do I fix the artifacts in the game?

Hi,
Sorry for replying late, I have a NVIDIA Geforce 8600M GT.

I would strongly suggest using the nvidia driver instead with that card. More features, better speed, better powersaving. It is far from pathetic.

I have used the Nvidia drivers before, the problem is that X restarts/crashes randomly and I have not found any fix for that. It happens specially on battery-mode and all those crashes have been a pain when I was working on a presentation, then I got motivated to get rid of it and get back nouveau. And the Nvidia drivers have been crashing since the last 4-5 versions. I think the crashes happen because of the powermizer setting. If I keep that off, the thing is it resets, the setting never gets saved. Like there are two options in powermizer "adaptive" and "full-performance". If I keep the latter one and save it, after a crash when I check nvidia settings it would have switched back to adaptive.
After those crashes I've really hated them too badly. I get blue screens in windows too, cuz of the nvidia drivers there. And totally random blue-screens and during one specific game(DotA)
If I'm lucky I'll try to swap out this card for a AMD/ATI one in future.
