[SOLVED] uninstalling packages doesn't work

I have some problmes uninstalling packages properly.. As I had some problems with flightgear, I uninstalled flightgear and flightgear-data (pacman -Rs flightgear) and tried to reinstall. I then got an error from pacman that there were already files that conflicted with my new installation:

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
flightgear: /usr/bin/alcinfo exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/est-epsilon exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/fgfs exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/fgjs exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/fgviewer exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/gl-info exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/js_demo exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/metar exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/terrasync exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/bin/yasim exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/share/man/man1/est-epsilon.1.gz exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/share/man/man1/fgfs.1.gz exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/share/man/man1/fgjs.1.gz exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/share/man/man1/gl-info.1.gz exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/share/man/man1/js_demo.1.gz exists in filesystem
flightgear: /usr/share/man/man1/pstest.1.gz exists in filesystem
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

So the desinstallation before seemed not to work. Is there a way to check if there are more orphant files on my system?

Re: [SOLVED] uninstalling packages doesn't work

You can force installing flightgear.
Have you read https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=56373 ?
Maybe https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Pa … ny_package will help to find any other misbehaving files.

Re: [SOLVED] uninstalling packages doesn't work

Installed by hand? Killed pacman while it was working? Out of space on /?

Umm, actually this could be it - it happened to me, while I was installing this game to help test why it wasn't working for miro279 (even though I had 4.6 GB left on / and the files should have taken only 2.2 ...)

Or 5.2 GB, since usually installed size matters, not compressed size. http://www.archlinux.org/packages/commu … gear-data/

Ah, OK. Should I file a bug? I don't want to drag this OT for too long ;P

Re: [SOLVED] uninstalling packages doesn't work

The three main pacman developers are all in this thread, so lets skip the bug report for now.

I think I ran out of space on / as well.. So this explains my problems.
