The short: Do LVM logical volumes need any special aligning when set up on a 4kb sector (advanced format) hard drive?
The long: I've previously successfully installed Arch Linux on a laptop with LVM on top of a dm-crypt/luks encrypted block. The reason I chose this particular layout was that it seems the least amount of hassle to get suspend with encrypted swap working.
The layout (GPT partition table):
Now, I want to do the same on a new advanced format drive. I know I need to align the physical partitions to 4kb sectors or suffer the performance degradation; this is easily achievable with gparted or gdisk. However, do I also need to take into consideration any alignment issues when creating the logical volumes or the filesystems on top?
Hope I've been clear enough.
Thanks in advance.
