Weather icons as characters in youtube?

All day i've had some weird issue to where when I try playing videos on youtube instead of seeing fonts I see weird icons that seem to be weather related. Also some of these show up when browsing google maps. Has anyone else had this issue? I was changing some fonts around earlier and thought it might be that, so I reverted the main font back to sans size 10 and have even tried restarting both the browsers(chromium and firefox) and the computer itself. I've tried searching for this problem but have yet to come across anything.
