Gnome 3 & nVidia Corporation NV34 [GeForce FX 5100] (rev a1) issues

Hello,

I am having trouble getting these to play well together.  So far the best combination is nouveau and current kernel, but the "activities overview" has a lot of video artifacts on mouse-over. for instance the search box will flicker and then turn white.  Otherwise it seems to work well.

I have also tried:
proprietary + current kernel.
nouveau-lts + current kernel-lts
