Acpid and critical battery level

Hi all,

Can there be defined a critical battery level using Acpid?

That is, a custom action such as suspending is executed after the battery level falls below 5%.

I am aware there is laptop-mode-tools for such tasks but I use already Acpid for all other laptop related tasks. Hence I am in favour of a solution using Acpid.

Re: Acpid and critical battery level

Laptop mode tools is just a front end.  I am fairly sure it is probably using acpid to accomplish it, so yes, you should be able to do it.  I'm not sure how since I use laptop-mode-tools and haven't bothered to figure it out myself.

Re: Acpid and critical battery level

Maybe laptop mode tools uses acpi as a backend but not acpid. However I thought of another idea. There must be surely battery tray icons out there which support the suspend after reaching a certain battery level. At the moment I'm using batti which does not support that. Do you know any other lightweight battery managers which suit that need?

Re: Acpid and critical battery level

Back to the initial acpid configuration. It is possible to do it with acpid as long as the critical battery level sends an acpi signal. Basically you need to run acpi_listen and see if this happens for your system.

A nice solution to get it working then can be found here: http://web.archiveorange.com/archive/v/ … XznXo8q8Fy
