Hello,
I accidentally deleted my movies dir :-(
Is there an easy way to undelete in XFS filesystem?
I am currently running photorec and its found loads of files and randomly named them all - plus its finding stuff off there I deleted a long time ago and also files from the drives former life as an NTFS drive - so far its found 850 files and counting - this will take forever to play and rename all movies.
I am wary of the fs now and am thinking of moving to ext3/4 as they have better/more recovery options.
Cheers

ya know what? a simple google search for "xfs undelete" brings up a lot of possibilities ... just saying ...

A google search was the first thing I did, and is the first thing I always do.
I installed the only 2 user written tools that are available -
first one wouldn't compile because of missing dependencies - I installed some and then there were more dependencies missing which took me back to when I used Linux in 1999/2000, nasty and frustrating.
There was an aur package for the second one (hxtools) and that didn't install properly - still I managed to find the binary xfs_recover and it didn't appear to do anything - just kind of hung.
I relented and downloaded the commercial tool (it works in trial mode)
This found the deleted directories - I made a handwritten list of these and re-downloaded all my deleted files, good job they were backed up on the internet.
