[solved] mpd goes to next track on startup?

I've noticed today that almost all the time, if I stop mpd with the current play position in the middle of a track, when I start it up again, it goes to the beginning of the next track instead of restarting from where it left off. It doesn't matter if it was playing or paused.

I don't recall seeing this behavior before, at least not this consistently. (And I've been using mpd for a long time.)

My music library is in Ogg Vorbis format.

I enabled verbose logging and got this output:

Sep 25 18:37:11 asenath mpd: state_file: Loading state file /var/lib/mpd/state

mpd was in the middle of song 1 when it was shut down.

Re: [solved] mpd goes to next track on startup?

I can't reproduce this running mpd 0.16.4-1. If I pause, mpd resumes at that same place. If I stop, it resumes at the start of the track that was previously playing. Playing .ogg or .flacs with ncmpcpp as the client.

This happens with any/other clients?

I use ncmpcpp and mpc as clients, that's all. The behavior you describe is what I'd expect it to do.

He hoped and prayed that there wasn't an afterlife. Then he realized there was a contradiction involved here and merely hoped that there wasn't an afterlife.

Re: [solved] mpd goes to next track on startup?

That does look like my problem. I saw this bug in my search results, but I didn't look at it because the title wasn't relevant. (But it's just a wrong title, as it doesn't really have anything to do with resume_paused in the submitter's case either.)

I'll mark this solved based on getting this explanation.
